Miscellaneous Development Program Notes

Lift Tickets:
If you purchased lifts as part of the Dev Program, your Team Coach will give them to you each week.
If you are using an Adv Card, you should purchase your tickets at the lift windows in the Circle or at the Ski School Desk

Rental Equipment:
Obtain rental form each week from Chi or Christine at the Admin Table

Restrooms:
Next to the Eastwind room…can be used for changing clothes too

Ski/Snowboard boots and clothes:
Please be sure your child is properly dressed and boots on before you leave them.

Personal clothing or equipment:
Liberty Mtn is not responsible for any lost personal items.  Most people bring their boot bags into the Eastwind room and store them in a cubby or under their team table until 3 pm.  It’s generally secure, however, the only way to be absolutely safe, is to lock your items in a locker either at the rental shop or main lodge.

Weather cancellation:
We are a ski resort and as such love it when it snows.  The only way we cancel for snow is if the State closes the roads.  If we cancel the program for any reason, then we add another week onto the end of the program.  Any cancellation will be posted by the General Manager by 6 am on Saturday.

Lunch:
All Jr Dev & Mt Explorers eat lunch in the Eastwind Room.   Adult Dev & Women’s Only choose their venue, Food Court, Pizza Parlor or McKees Tavern.

Team Tables:
Some instructor changes have been made.  Go directly to the Team Table that you were assigned to.

Whitney’s Way will not be open on Jan 5th, therefore the slalom course will not be operating. We will be doing the Dev race program with Dion and Reid as planned. They will be working on skiing skills for the first session.

Molly, Alan, Christine and Chi are all available to assist, answer questions and help you enjoy the experience.  Thanks for choosing Liberty.

Dev News January 1, 2008 - Happy New Year!

Last week, our Dev Coordinators, Molly and Alan, made the group and team assignments.

  • The group assignments were based on the information you provided on your
    registration form.
  • Participants were grouped according to skill level and age.
  • Many of you have requested to be with certain other program participants. We
accommodated your request, if the skill levels and ages were similar.

Sunday, December 30th we mailed each registered participant a letter with specific details
about their group assignment and where to go the first morning of the Dev Program.

  • Please arrive early and give yourself plenty of time on your first day.

We break the day into two segments.

AM - Our goal is to be out on the snow by 9:00 am.

  • Your coach will work throughout the day to develop your skills on trails appropriate
    for your ability.
  • In the mornings from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, we have racing gates set up exclusively
for our program. Please don't let the thought of racing gates intimidate you.
  • The gates can be as exhilarating for a wedge turner who may take 50 seconds to
get down the race course as it is for the accomplished racer who can do it in less
than 20 seconds. The slalom course is a fun learning tool.
  • The slalom course is setup on Whitney’s Way.

Lunch Time - We break for lunch between 11:30 am and Noon. Lunch has a tasty
selection of 3 or 4 menu items. We eat in the Eastwind Room

PM - After lunch, we hit the slopes again in search of the best snow, working on skill
development and having fun.

  • For those intermediates or better, we have the terrain park with tabletops and rails to
explore. (Assuming parents initialed their kids consent form).
  • Remember, if an individual's skill level is not up to par at the first session, then
certainly as they near the end of their 4 or 6 weeks, most kids skills will have
progressed sufficiently to have the opportunity to discover what fun the Terrain Park
    can be.
  • We come off the snow at 3:00 pm and parents should pickup their children in the
    Eastwind room.
  • The Dev Program lift ticket is valid until 5:00 pm. We encourage parents and
children to take a few runs together.

Multiweek Dev Program Tip # 1 on December 10, 2007

Ski and Snowboard Helmet Sizing

Helmet sizing is very simple. The sizes are determined by how many centimeters around your head is. Take a tape measure and measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows. That's your helmet size.
It is VERY important to keep in mind that not all helmets fit the same. Head shape is a factor in your helmet selection as well. In most cases, your helmet will fit if you get the right size, but there are circumstances where the helmet will not fit due to the shape of the helmet and the shape of your head. In cases like this, you may have to try on a few different models to find the right one.
For kids it is very important to not add too much to account for growth. A helmet that is too loose is not going to be safe and can actually be dangerous. Kids' heads grow relatively slow so get one that fits. The only time you may want to bump up a size is if their head is right in-between sizes. Then you can select the larger size.
In summary, please remember that not all helmets fit the same! Some are designed for oval heads, some are designed for round heads and some are designed for the "roval" head. It's best to try them on before you buy, but if you are buying online, you may want to consider ordering multiple styles and returning the ones that do not fit.
